Carousel :: Repeat Patterns

Design © Kim Buchheit
While looking through holiday photos of my family riding a carousel, I just had to create some patterns inspired by the beautiful horses they were riding. I think the top one would make a nice holiday wrapping paper, tied up with dark red ribbon. Which one do you like best?

House & Ladders :: Repeat Pattern

Design © Kim Buchheit
I developed this pattern based on a 30" x 40" painting and subsequent linocut of mine (both below); and took the color palette from one of my older acrylics that just found its way home to me yesterday (orange painting below). In dream analysis, they say that the house represents the self; and, for me, the ladders represent time... past, present, and future.

Note: Matted linocut, hand-tinted with watercolor, available now in my Etsy shop.

P.S. Bunny B is the winner of the wrapping paper contest! Congrats, Bunny B – and thanks to all of you who entered.

Flowers | Cells :: Repeat Pattern

Design © Kim Buchheit
I created the above pattern today based on a series of drawings I did a year or so ago. Below are details of some of those older ~20" x 30" color pencil/watercolor drawings (sorry about the lousy quality of the photos). Let me know your thoughts. Thanks :)

Had a fun lazy day in the studio today. Made some quirky felties and then created a repeat pattern from them (see below).

Valentine's Day Project

Last weekend, my sweet 12-year-old niece (Shea), emailed requesting some "custom" valentines. Here's what we came up with :)
